Lloyd Frazee was a resident at The Laurels of Mt. Vernon for just ten months. During that 10-month period, Mr. Frazee sustained at least three falls resulting in fractures to both sides of his hip. Unfortunately, Lloyd Frazee never recovered from the third fall that occurred in early 2023 and died from his injuries after suffering for fifteen days.

Michael Hill Trial Law is pursuing a lawsuit on behalf of Lloyd Frazee’s family against Ohio-based nursing facility The Laurels of Mt. Vernon, located in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. The Laurels of Mt. Vernon is part of the Ciena Healthcare family of companies–which is a prominent nursing home chain throughout the State of Ohio and the United States. Michael Hill Trial Law is pursuing two other lawsuits against The Laurels and Ciena Healthcare.

The lawsuit states that Lloyd Frazee became a resident of The Laurels of Mt. Vernon on March 29, 2022. It further explains that Mr. Frazee depended on the facility and its respective nursing and medical staff for medical and nursing care, treatment, evaluation and assistance.

While Lloyd Frazee was admitted to The Laurels of Mt. Vernon he sustained numerous falls, including a fall on August 2, 2022, which resulted in a fractured left hip. He sustained another fall on December 4, 2022 in which he fractured his right hip. The lawsuit details that Mr. Frazee sustained a third and final fall on January 3, 2023, where he was then transported to the hospital.

Unfortunately, Lloyd Frazee never recovered from the injuries that resulted from the fall on January 3, 2023. He died on January 18, 2023. The lawsuit states that the certified death certificate lists Lloyd Frazee’s immediate cause of death as “complications of right hip fracture” due to the fall that occurred on January 3, 2023 while he was under The Laurels of Mt. Vernon’s care.

The lawsuit alleges that The Laurels of Mt. Vernon and the other named Defendants failed to provide proper care and treatment to Lloyd Frazee, which they knew he required. It also alleges that the Defendants were negligent in providing personal care services, nursing care and treatment, resident supervision, fall prevention, fall intervention, and maintaining a safe environment for Mr. Frazee while he was under their care. These failures resulted in Mr. Frazee’s death. The lawsuit further claims that due to the Defendants’ negligent failures and statutory violations, Lloyd Frazee suffered conscious pain and suffering, severe and debilitating injuries, including but not limited to hip fractures and ultimately died on January 18, 2023.
